Shortly after Rainbow Rebel came out, they experienced bullying at work. As they sobbed on the tram home, a turkey called Martyn, offered them a hanky to blow their beak. Martyn also opened up about the bullying they’d experienced and they bonded over their mutual appreciation for Sue Turk-ins on Bake Off.
Martyn worked at LGBT Foundation and after a few Squawking Therapies together, Rainbow Rebel’s mental well-being was transformed … and their confidence and self-esteem began to grow. But it wasn’t until attending their first Manchester Pride, that Rainbow Rebel’s running talent came out from beneath their rainbow plumage. While on stage performing their Freddie Turk-ury tribute act, BFF Martyn stumbled and threatened to fall into the crowd.
Quick as a flash Rainbow Rebel, dashed to the rescue and caught Martyn in an unfurled rainbow flag. Martyn instantly knew they had found their fund-racing turkey. After running from their sexuality for years, Rainbow Rebel knew it was time to start running for it.
